How a Chinese Brand Prepared for Global Expansion

Turning Chinese capabilities into global brand value. Chinese companies are increasingly moving beyond domestic markets. With strong manufacturing capabilities, technological innovation and increasingly sophisticated products, Chinese brands are entering international markets across industries and categories.

But global expansion requires more than a good product. A brand that is successful in China may not automatically be understood, trusted or differentiated in another market. Different audiences have different expectations, cultural references, media habits and ways of evaluating brands.

The challenge was to build the foundations of a global-facing brand — one that could communicate its capabilities clearly, establish credibility in new markets and create a distinctive position beyond China.

This meant looking beyond the traditional idea of “going overseas” and considering the entire brand journey:

From being made in China → to being understood globally → to being trusted internationally.

Finding the Global Story, RiCE began by identifying the strengths that could travel across markets.

We examined the company’s products, capabilities, competitive landscape and potential international audiences, while considering how the brand might be perceived outside China.

The objective was to distinguish between what was China-specific and what represented the company’s genuine, globally relevant value. We then translated those strengths into a clearer international brand proposition — focusing not simply on what the company makes, but on the expertise, innovation, quality and value it brings to customers around the world.
